Toy Museum

I went to Toy Museum to draw inspiration from English Toys. The most interesting thing for me was 'The waving machine'. You can set the waves by placing a coin slot (though you can not use the machine now as it is preserved in the glass case).
The waves is caused when the motor is activated it drives a turning rod attached to a series of cams. How about the waving landscape??

Hand drawing

I went to Teddington Lock as a hand drawing session.
It was very freezy rainy day to draw something outside, but the session was very useful and fun for me to continue questioning with drawing like what is fundamental? or how it works? or how's under the water.

Leonardo da Vinci

Drawings demonstrate the process of thinking.
I went to an Exhibition which is held at V&A. The exhibition is about how Leonardo thought on paper.
Small papers are full of tiny drawings and writings, they show a series of idea clearly.
I have tendency to be too serious to draw something on paper freely, so I learned a lot his drawings.

Edinburgh

I had been to Edinburgh for a week to research maritime projects at Edinburgh.
Edinburgh is on steep hills, and a row of houses along slope make Edinburgh's landscape unique.
As I went through "CLOSE", which is a narrow pathway connecting lower street with upper street, it was a thrill for me.

Moerenuma Park in Japan

I went to Moerenuma Park which was designed by Isamu Noguchi.
He was a great sculptor in the world. He started from sculpturing a slide out of stone for children, and he finally sculptured a large park out of earth for all people.

Omotesando Hills

Omotesando Hills was designed by Tadao Ando as reconstruction of a famous flat in Tokyo. The inside consists of slopes which are linked to Omotesando street, outside of this building. So when I was walking inside of the building, I feel as if I were walking along Omotesando street.

Luminosity/Porosity

I went to an exhibition introducing Steven Holl's works at Gallery Ma in Tokyo. He works on assimilation of Architechture and Landscape, in other words, matter and mind. Actually, when I saw his installation, I could not distinguish from Architechture and Landscape on his works.

Straight

These pictures were taken in France. I have never seen such long straight line in Tokyo. Tokyo is more complicated city, because it have expanded like a spider web along small branches.

Parc de Bercy

The park is located near the Seine, in an area that was formerly used for shipping storage and canal transport. The park is geometrically divided, offering areas for children, gardeners, and those who would like to walk or do sunbathing.
Elegant bridges join segments of the park that are separated by an avenue. There are areas for sports and an education center. Located in the center of the park is the Palais Omnisports, which is surrounded by grass on all sides and blends in with the landscape.

Long Long Winter

I knew that hours of sunlight affect culture and architecture. However, I have never known how it affect people's mind before coming to the UK. I was feelng depression during winter due to darkness. At the same time I knew the pleasure to expect the coming of spring.

Old and New

The mixture of old and new makes London attractive city. I think British people are good at arranging traditional and contemporary things in their life.

New Environment

When I arrived at Kingston one year ago, everything were new for me such as landscape, material, people, and language ...except I and my suitcase.

From Air

A view from aeroplane headed to London.
