Sustainable London & Lecture

I went to Breakfast Talk at New London Architecture. Today's theme of talk was about "The Olympic Sustainable Strategy" suggesting "Legacy mode" to approach the London Olympic. The strategy is focusing on transport and mobility to the site and how encourage people to use public transport, cycle and walkway. I was not satisfied with this talk as presenters talked about only general information, but I could see more specific later, when I saw Landscape Institute Lecture presented by Jason Prior at RSA.

Landmark of TIdal Landscape

This is my four days project I had worked at Colchester.
The concept of this project is sensual awareness of forgotten nature.
Border lines along the turnig circle is not only to implove the aesthetics of the landscape,
but also to represent changing nature. This project would also encourage to regenerate
natural habitat for plants and small animals, and provide natural amenity space to local
people.

Barbican Centre

I went to Barbican Art Gallery to see an exhibition "Alvar Aalto: Through The Eyes of Shigeru Ban". When I observed Aalto's drawing, I found his plan includes the detail of materials, plants, and even shadow by leaves and skylights.
The exhibition space was surrounded by paper structures designed by Shigeru Ban. The waving structure covered the ceiling, and partitioned the exhibition space into several sections, and Lights through the gaps between paper pipes created beautiful lines of light.

Snowing

When I woke up this morning, the ground was covered with snow. It is unusual to have snow in London, but this is the second snow of the year in the city. While Tokyo, Japan haven't had any snow this year, it is usually for Tokyo to become springlike without snow in winter. I wonder global warming is concerned in these abnormal weather.

Toy Museum

I went to Toy Museum to draw inspiration from English Toys. The most interesting thing for me was 'The waving machine'. You can set the waves by placing a coin slot (though you can not use the machine now as it is preserved in the glass case).
The waves is caused when the motor is activated it drives a turning rod attached to a series of cams. How about the waving landscape??

Hand drawing

I went to Teddington Lock as a hand drawing session.
It was very freezy rainy day to draw something outside, but the session was very useful and fun for me to continue questioning with drawing like what is fundamental? or how it works? or how's under the water.

Leonardo da Vinci

Drawings demonstrate the process of thinking.
I went to an Exhibition which is held at V&A. The exhibition is about how Leonardo thought on paper.
Small papers are full of tiny drawings and writings, they show a series of idea clearly.
I have tendency to be too serious to draw something on paper freely, so I learned a lot his drawings.
